Ross on Wye Golf Club

Ross on Wye Golf Club

It’s hard to see how eighteen holes at Ross on Wye Golf Club could be anything but peaceful and tranquil. While anything but straight and true hitting will often be punished, few will be able to resist the charms of this superbly kept course, which features immaculate greens, an abundance of secluded tree-lined fairways and some breathtaking tee-shots.

If your long game has deserted you then forget your score; relax and enjoy the stroll through the tall avenues of oak and silver birch which is the signature features of this beautiful woodland course.

The course is a challenge from first to last and the big hitter will be rewarded as several of the par fours are well over 400 yards. Those with a strong short game will be able to make up ground however, as the small, contoured greens demand accurate approach play.

Being 105 years old, many consider Ross-on-Wye to be one of the finest inland courses in the South West. Designed by the leading architect Ken Cotton, today the club is advised by Donald Steel, whose visions have been brought to life at many famous courses including the redesign to championship standard of the Jubilee Course at St Andrews.

While well manicured, Ross is also blessed with a wide variety of natural growing flora and fauna - with wild daffodils and bluebells in the woods and buzzards regularly circling overhead. Why not complete your visit with a meal in the dining room or a drink on the veranda overlooking the 9th and 18th greens.
